Dear educational colleague,
As the chairperson organizing the WVAHPERD Convention 201 at Canaan Valley Resort and Conference Center, I wish to extend to you this invitation to share your talents and expertise with educators who will be meeting in the beautiful mountains of the Potomac Highlands in November. Yes, Canaan is located 38 miles from the last 4-lanes of highway east of Elkins, WV and 51 miles south of I-68 in Garrett County Maryland. This setting allows us to meet and greet without distractions, as we enjoy the beauty of nature and dedication of other professionals. As educators we have followed pathways since our entry into the world of teaching. Just as Dr. Seuss wrote the story about the places you will go in life, we need to celebrate and share the benefits of professional growth through WVAHPERD and AAHPERD with the next and younger generation of educators.
Through active involvement and participation in continuing education at conferences, seminars and roles of leadership at schools, county, state, colleges, district and national levels, West Virginia educators have an impressive resume that should be shared with other professionals. It is time to lead and mentor the replacement leaders and nurture younger colleagues in the pathways of places they will go, once they are an active participants and planners of their educational goals. We all got to where we are today through joining in and being active members in WVAHPERD.
Please take a few moments to give thoughtful consideration of submitting a proposal to present at the WVAHPERD Conference-WVAHPERD the Places You Will Go. You are a story yourself, so take a few moments to share your successful lessons and thoughts with educators seeking new ideas and current pedagogy in Lifetime Wellness.
